blue

i see a small boat drifting
in night's calm shades beneath the pines
suffused by moonlight's touch,
floating in silent rest

steel of dusk
seeps into waters,
ceaselessly flowing,
into the stream
lined by dark guardian trees
tick marks of passing time

out into river, into sea,
up to the distant seam where blue caresses blue,
embrace of an ethereal void,
cut flowers dancing on the waves,
headstones for sailors lost.

this poem is pure blue. there is calm, and light melancholy, and yearnings for the ungraspable...something beyond or probably drifting in the very depth of our soul's world. it's much more ethereal than earthy, yet the sense of all-elemental wisdom permeates it. feels like a meditation as i read and re-read~

That seems to me the essence of the colour blue - the ethereal and ungraspable, yet all-surrounding.
