Hope
It is the thing with feathers
fallen in angels' flight
wearing this air of sweetness
that peacefully resides;
It is the fragrant garden
I walk through in my dreams
of flowers in blissful shadows
beneath mild sunlight's beams;
It lies beyond the you and me
beyond the crooked path,
the wounding stings,
the daggers in our chests;
It understands, forgives and sees
it is the Yet, nevertheless,
truth, trust, belief,
the final reason;
It feeds the sky from a small heart
where it expands to, free and bound
― and it grows trees
from smallest seeds
that hold a heaven in their arms.
This poem is inspired by Emily Dickinson (314).

This is so lovely and soothing and, well, hopeful ... so why am I crying?
Thank you, Cat : ) Hopefully it is a good reason.
This is an absolutely sublime poem, Martin. Loved it.
Beautiful, dear Martin...just lovely :)
Thank you, Quirina and Louise : )
I like especially the line:
"It understands, forgives and sees"
...no matter mess, remorse, blindness...
...like a tiny flower from a cold crack,
which was there before we even saw it...
The hope couldn't ever be described more beautifully than within your words here...
Beautiful poem, Martin, that oozes 'hope' from every line. I adore Emily Dickinson's poetry & especially like 'Hope is the thing with Feathers' :)
Thank you, Sanna and Peter for your very lovely comments : )

Thank you, dear Yelena : ) Nice to have you around again!
Hope is a curious thing. It comforts and kills at the same time and we hold on to it the strongest when there is no hope
Maybe it is a strategy of evolution to support our will to survive. Anyway, it is not at all related to reality whereas belief has always something to do with our own mind's reality.
Nice to see you around : )
