Relentlessly must follow
one surging wave another
amid the endless sea
A liquid mountain range
crowned by a whitecapped snow
from heaving rage to waning foam
Behind this wall: a veil
unto horizon's haze ̶
blue reign, infinite darkness
no land for sailor's gaze
Seafarer, lift your wings
toward the seagull's cry!
On white dream's billowed sail
toward the cloudy height!
Rest 'neath her shining star
upon her bloom-strewn lake
cradled inside
her moonlit boat
anchored in timeless season.

on coincidences: i visited a State Museum in St.Petersburg some time ago..where this Aivazovsky painting is. it's situated in a big hall, apart from other paintings, so that nothing could distract the viewer from its grandness. your poem is grand as well and reminds also of Eärendil. purr!
How wonderful it must be to see such a great painting in the original, even more in such suberb surroundings. My experience is that a photo does not reveal half a painting's splendour. Btw I had to think of Eärendil reading your poem too : ) Thank you, dear Yelena. Blessings : )
My first time here ~ I specially like the italics of the seafarer's journey ~ Have a good weekend ~
Thank you ~ the same to you : )
Is that "M" purring at you above? Hmmm. :-) Wonderful poem!
Thank you, Bill. No, this is just coincidence : )
