amid the sea of loss

there lies an island green and fair
amid the sea of loss
with surging hills and valleys lush
with birdsong and the scent of spring
where elven song fills the blue hour
and morning mists with awe
where forests tall with silver bark
stand firm above the sea
sheltering bluebells on unfading grass
green since the eldest days

two wells of tears
spring into silver stream
cascading over rocks
joined to the island's roots
into the lotus lake
all tender and serene
eye to the ground of sky
gleaming in violet flame
falling from height's eternity.

violet hour

in the violet hour
when slowly night begins
to seep into the passing day
when warming light retreats
from eye to inner skies

when the quiet river darkens
laced with ethereal from another world
i find your moon immersed therein
fruit on the silver coat
of still reflection

my fingers touch
the cool and soft
causing the face to ripple
my hands cupped
hold the vision dear

for just an instant
before the stream takes it away.

entwined & parted

two roses parted
by a mountain range
on whose snow-powdered ridge
the moon wistfully glistens

wind sighs through fir and pine
into lavender gloaming sea
cascading from the sky

into the roots
in depth of earth entwined
as fingers reaching out
for petal-covered bliss.

Status Quo

she reads deficient words i scoop

from wordless worlds from her eyes' well

between the lines the rose's tendrils climb

skylorn into the blue

reaching for this wall's ending high

to catch the light of secret gardens.

How the sky reminds me of you.

#135

from silent sea
soft waves keep rolling to my shore
welcoming them with tender hands
seashells keeping their lore
within their longing hearts

how far — you never are
my heart embraces you
chin rested on your shoulder
to see the evening sky
with your soul's eye.

maybe we are
two little notes
in universal music
woven into a sweet melody

whitecaps on the endless blue.

at the far end

my light you stay
in times of dark,
on brightest day
entwined with sunlight
on a hopeful morn

my light you stay
cast over flowering fields
caressed by summer breeze
on careless afternoon
that slowly turns to golden eve

my light you stay
when after many moons
you may remember
the wilted roses
at the far end of your garden

know then
that they are blooming still
in mine until all gardens fall.

aurora borealis

cerulean winds from northern skies
are brushing against sleeping earth
a sea of grass surging in dreams of hoarfrost
weaving itself into the hymn of birches
which glow in auburn gold
as silent stronghold of sublime

deep reach the roots
of arctic roses into summer streams
where bluebells ring
over the valley's peaceful pastures

lighting a smile in elven heart
wistfully dancing over sea.

on paths of stillness

let me love you silently

the way a golden leaf touches the earth
sheltering future seeds from cold,
the way the seagull paints
white circles into grey skies
before the fall of soothing rain,
the steadfast way the oak abides the storm.

on paths of stillness we will wander
beneath the bleak face of a winter sun
keeping hope low behind forest's black silhouette
the gentle sough of fallen summer on our feet.

on paths of stillness we will wander
your vine trailing around each hour
watching the western sky
for heaven's gates lighting the setting sun
to find a home in ocean's arms.

let me love you silently

the way a silver moonray
kisses the sleeping flower.

(Which one is the way to go to meet your eye still in this lifetime ...?)

okeanos

resting in the soft hands of our beach
stretching to both ends of the sky
the seagulls' cries have settled with the sun
into a fruit-spilled dream spiced with lavender

our senses reach for ocean's heart
breaking in gentle waves of dusk,
for the tales of seashells' melodies
resounding in your smiling eyes, in mine,
in the softness of our voices
immersing into fading light,
in a sea of life embracing us

skin finds the warmth of skin
fueled by two coalescing flames
bearing the flower blue
drinking from silver light of starry skies.

autumn (V)

to wander silently
in autumn's frigid mist
weaving the auburn sea
in lace of wistfulness

on wings of cranes departs
great summer's fervent glow
into the voice of wind
wafting from isles where gold

and honey flows from lips
of sun's embracing warmth
dyeing a rose in embers
on Lóriens unfading grass.

dawn flows from her eyes
sweetness from her lips
to the ether silk of night
embracing his swan
with amethyst wings
horizon-bound star-dreamer
crestfallen crescent
face turned to her grace.

Note

i do not hope for much
but to be kept inside
a small chest in your forest
hidden at a place that only you know
beside the little well hemmed by blue flowers.

when i close my lids

when i close my lids
i see you
your eye opening a pristine sky over secret isles
a dark ripe with the taste of sunrise

when i close my lids
i feel you pulse inside my veins
moonfruit of the olive tree
high in the branches

(for D.)

This morning I was dreaming of you while asleep for the first time. First I saw you in a group of people while I was passing on a bus. The second time you stayed invisible but I could feel your presence.

Gossamer

Maybe
we meet
each other only
in the soft feathers
the sky weaves into dusk,
in the shimmer of a yearning
that the river carries through
gossamer evenings wearing coats
of misty chill
in our
hearts.

essence

holding you
in the marrow of sunset
where sea, earth and sky merge into light
holding you
in the palm of my heart

(for D.)

maybe

maybe your love
will flow with earthly rivers
into the sea as sediment

but in the dawn of each day
in light of evening's brink
in each star's twinkle shy
in smallest flower growing
out of a stony wall
there will be you, your light and smile.
